- Biomarker discovery
We are performing basic genetic research to characterize a novel tumor suppressor gene, DEAR1, identified in my laboratory for which we have shown evidence of its mutation and homozygous deletion in breast cancer and its function in the dominant regulation of acinar morphogenesis. Translational interests involve our research as a biomarker discovery laboratory associated with the NCI Early Detection Research Network in which we are taking a functional genomic approach to discover biomarkers for the early detection of pancreatic cancer.
