Gynecologic Oncology and Reproductive Medicine
Mission
The mission of the Department of Gynecologic Oncology is to develop and maintain the highest quality integrated programs in patient care, research, fellowship training, education and prevention.
Vision
The Department of Gynecologic Oncology recognizes the heavy burden that cancer places on the patient and members of her family. We will provide the foremost leadership in the world in the care of patients with gynecologic malignancies and contribute to solving the cancer problem.
Gynecologic Cancer Treatment
Our faculty members treat all types of gynecologic cancers including ovarian cancer, malignant ovarian germ-cell tumors, ovarian sex-cord stromal tumors, borderline tumors of the ovary, vaginal cancer, vulvar cancer, endometrial cancer, cervical cancer, cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and gestational trophoblastic disease. They also provide care for human papillomavirus infections and perform cytoreductive surgery. Areas of special interest include lymphatic mapping, quality of life, outcomes analysis, minimally invasive surgical techniques, continuous quality improvement, disease management and standard care pathways.
Patients are seen and followed at MD Anderson, Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital and The Woman's Hospital of Texas. Patients also are seen by Gynecologic Oncology faculty at St. Luke’s Tower, a satellite office established in collaboration with St. Luke’s Hospital.
