Questions and Answers about Participation in TCGN
Do I have to participate in TCGN?
Joining the TCGN is your choice. If you decide to join you are free to withdraw at any time and your information will be removed from both local and national network.
Is there any cost to participate?
Joining the TCGN is free. Participation in future research studies may have some costs, but these will be explained to you before you decide to participate.
Are there any risks associated with participation in TCGN?
They may be a very small risk of loss of privacy from being part of the registry. All information that could identify you will only be kept at the local network. Your name and contact information will be removed before being sent to the Cancer Genetics Network Coordinating Center at Massachusetts General Hospital.
If I do not live in Texas, can I participate in TCGN?
Yes. Anyone may join TCGN regardless of state of residence.
If I have more questions, whom do I contact?

Will the CGN-TCGN Follow-Up Web site be available 24 hours a day?
Yes. This site will be available for follow up 24 hours a day. The Web site contains a contact page where participants will have the opportunity to exchange information with the data coordinator of the study.

Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act: 2007-2008 - 5/21/08
President Bush signed into law the Genetic Information Nondiscriminatory Act (GINA). The law will protect Americans against discrimination based on their genetic information as it relates to health insurance and employment.
