Created by M.D. Anderson in 1991. the Levit Radiologic - Pathologic Institute combines traditional medicine with the latest in computer imaging technology to develop continuing medical education (CME) programs for healthcare professionals.
The Levit Institute is committed to making radiology and pathology imaging more accessable to physicians, researchers, educators and students. Computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), conventional radiology and photographs of pathology specimens, are vital for accurate diagnosis and treatment of cancer patients. In an educational setting, these imaging technologies provide a hands-on learning experience for both students and experienced radiologists and pathologists.
The Levit Institute's staff is developing an environment of networked computers in which images can be easily located and rapidly viewed. The staff works closely with physicians to create multimedia resources for transmitting and reviewing images, including CD-ROMs, online CME courses, and scientific exhibits.
