Potential Conflict of Interest Issues
What if I own stock in a company that licenses and commercializes my invention?
UT System policy requires you to:
- Obtain prior approval from the Conflict of Interest Committee, the Executive Vice President for Administration and Finance and the UT System Board of Regents
- Report your equity holdings annually as of August 31 to the Associate Vice President of Business Affairs
What if I serve as a consultant or sit on the Board of Directors or other governing board, or work as an officer or employee of a company that licenses and commercializes my invention?
- You must obtain prior written approval from the Executive Vice President for Administration and Finance, the UT System and UT Board of Regents
- You must follow the MD Anderson Cancer Center policies on outside employment and conflict of interest
- Report all of your outside employment activities annually to The University of Texas Chancellor's Office through MD Anderson Office of Human Resources as of August 31
