Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Industry Collaborations

The Office of Translational Research provides a lead role for building and coordinating an institution-wide expansion of mutually beneficial collaborations with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.

In an era of tightening of federal funding for cancer research and challenging fiscal times in the pharmaceutical industry, we are expanding our external collaborations with industry. M. D. Anderson benefits by obtaining increased levels of preclinical, translational and clinical research support. Development of strategic relationships with industry partners allows us to gain earlier access to preclinical and clinical investigational compounds that will benefit both our researchers and our patients, providing the newest and best drugs for our faculty's research programs and for therapy. Industry benefits by obtaining early input on clinical needs, insight on their research and clinical drug development programs and access to M. D. Anderson's premier research and clinical programs for diagnosis, imaging, treatment and prevention of cancer.
