EH&S Management System
Our Facilities Management division and the Department of Veterinary Sciences in Bastrop, Texas, maintain an ISO 14001-certified Environmental Health & Safety Management System (EHSMS) that supports the institution's mission of eliminating cancer.
We are committed to operating our facilities in a safe and environmentally responsible manner by being respectful of the environment, our patients, staff, visitors and the communities where we reside. Environmental health and safety is a primary management responsibility, as well as the responsibility of every employee. We will not compromise our environmental health and safety values for profit or research gain.
We are committed to being a responsible steward through an Environmental Health & Safety Management System by:
- Establishing targets to use energy more efficiency, reduce pollution and prevent accidents
- Complying with applicable laws, regulations and other requirements to which M. D. Anderson subscribes
- Continually improving our environmental health and safety performance
- Employing assessments to verify and validate our performance
M. D. Anderson has implemented a comprehensive Environmental Health & Safety Management System that meets the registration criteria for the ISO 14001:2004 Standard. Our EHSMS program identifies and mitigates safety and environmental issues in a cost effective, risk-based manner. M. D. Anderson seeks to achieve continual improvement in environmental health and safety performance by a systematic method to manage potential risks.
By achieving ISO 14001 registration, we have improved our EHSMS program in the following ways:
